Week is a newsletter that is mailed to all members of the congregation.
Information concerning upcoming hymns, scripture lessons for services,
upcoming events, information from committees and organizations,
and general information is provided in this newsletter. Parish
Week is scheduled to be mailed once or twice a month.

Bible Classes

how to interpret the Bible intelligently.

Classes (Preparation for Church Membership)

spend two years studying the Bible and learning
the basic beliefs of the Lutheran Church - Missouri
Synod.

Sunday
School or Bible Classes for Children
"It is enough for the student to be like his teacher..."
(Matthew 10:24)
Sundays at 9:45 a.m., children from 3 to 12 years of
age assemble together for a short devotional opening.
Then children break into homogenous age groupings with
adult leaders to learn Bible stories, study major doctrinal
teachings, and discuss real-life applications of these.

with one another and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all

Dinners
for Eight
Groups
of the same eight assigned people meet for dinner at each other's
house once a month for four months in order to socialize and enjoy
each other's company in a social setting. Under the leadership of
a main host and hostess, couples work together to share a complete
meal with entrée, side dishes, and desserts. Singles and couples
are encouraged to sign up.

Youth
Activities
The
youth, in conjunction with adult leadership in the congregation,
plan activities for fun, service, and fellowship. Call the church

Various
Other Activities
During
the year, the Fellowship Committee sponsors various activities for
congregation members and friends. Some of these activities have
included biking, bowling, caroling, feasting, picnicking, and tubing.

for the Elderly
Augsburg
Lutheran Home provides retirement living, assisted living, and constant

for Those Who Are in Need

The
Lutheran Mission Society is an agency of the Lutheran Church
- Missouri Synod which reaches out to those in need of compassionate
care. Dr. Richard Alms is the director of the LMS.

Lutheran Social Services provides assistance for those who
are in need of counseling and/or other support services.
|

Care
for Others Who Serve in the Ministry
Baltimore
Lutheran High School offers education for students in Grades 6 to
12. Grade six is offered to assist those students coming from schools
whose exit grade is five. Immanuel Lutheran Church is a member of
the Association which supports and manages the school. For more

Altar
Guild
The
ladies in the Altar Guild work behind the scenes to prepare the
altar for worship. New members are trained in how to dress the chancel
for worship.

Evangelism
Committee
The
congregation takes the great commission from Matthew 28 to go and
make disciples of all nations. This committee works to provide avenues
for people to hear the Word of God and to connect themselves to
the congregation.

Fellowship
Committee
This
committee selects various activities which promote and provide fellowship
for members of the congregation.
|

Finance
Committee
The
Finance Committee is comprised of people committed to the global
view of the mission and ministry of Immanuel Lutheran Church and
School. This committee maintains primary responsibility for preparing
the budget and maintaining financial accountability and responsibility
for the church's income, expenditures, and investments.

Ladies
Auxiliary
This
group of ladies meets once a month for fellowship. They raise money
for various activities, projects, and ministries for the church.
The Ladies Auxiliary has been making homemade Christmas and Easter
candy (see below) for many years.

Board
of Lay Ministry
The
Board of Lay Ministry is composed of people who wish to provide
ways to minister and care for all members of the congregation. The
Board has organized communion for the homebound, short services
at the church for shut-ins, and a Mutual Care ministry. The Mutual
Care Committee consists of all the called staff members and five
lay leaders. They meet periodically to discuss the ministries of
the church and to provide support for the called staff members.

Property
Committee
The
Property Committee is responsible for overseeing the maintenance
and care of the church building and grounds. This committee also
assists when building and/or property renovations are recommended.

Stewardship
Committee
This
committee works to identify the various resources available within
and to the congregation.
