Pastor Lucas Witt is excited to be back as a witness to Jesus in
Baltimore, where he served from 2012-2013 as Vicar at Immanuel. He also
served with St. Thomas Lutheran Church, and the
Lutheran Mission Society.
Here he confirmed his passion for this specific ministry, especially
enjoying the opportunity to discover Jesus teachings with others, relate
timeless truths to children, and seek a brighter future for people who
are marginalized by society. Immanuel has primarily called Pastor Witt
to assist Immanuel in reaching the city of Baltimore for the sake of
Jesus Christ, in hopes that we may seek and guide more people into
eternal life.
To Lucas, Baltimore has been
"Home" ever since he left, but that wasn't always the case.
Lucas was raised on a family farm outside Manning, Iowa until he
graduated high school. After that he received his Bachelor of Science
degree in Computer Science at Buena Vista University and his Master of
Science degree of Information Security at Iowa State University.
Following two years of employment with the National Security Agency, he
enrolled at
Concordia Seminary in St. Louis. There he met his wife
Sylvia and they were married in 2013. He served as pastor at St.
Peter's Lutheran Church in St. Paul, Minnesota from 2014-2017, and then
accepted the opportunity to be Chaplain and Bible Teacher for grades 6-8
at Oakland Christian School in Auburn Hills, Michigan from 2018-2019.
Lucas
and Sylvia Witt have been blessed by God with the responsibility to
raise in the ways of Jesus one son and two daughters: Nazareth, Lilac,
and Zipporah. The Witt family spend time together running around
outside, going to the YMCA, visiting museums, coloring, singing, and
inviting neighbors into the home for meals and fellowship (Just email me
with a night that works for you!). Lucas personally enjoys being
active indoors and outdoors, meeting people, laughing, and playing the
trumpet.
Lucas is hoping to partner with
leaders who seek great change by serving others first. Feel free to
contact him to discuss your ideas for how we might be able to partner
and shine a brighter light on Baltimore.
